However, the stringent rules concerning the application and grant of visas is a severe restraining factor that holds back a lot of Indian travellers. The newly appointed president of Brazil, Jair Bolsonaro who is a far-right politician, has recently announced an exciting initiative that has created a huge buzz of excitement for the tourism industry and travellers all over the world. The recently launched initiative has declared reduced requirements for visa grants.
The Brazilian government has announced that businessmen and tourists from developed countries such as US and Canada will no longer require a visa to enter Brazilian territory for a period of 90 days which may be extended to 180 days for a limited number of reasons. Later during his recent visit to China, President Bolsonaro announced that this initiative extends to developing countries such as India and China as well. People having Indian citizenship and an Indian passport will no longer need to apply for a visa and go through stringent procedures to visit Brazil anymore. This means that there will be a free visa for Indian travellers.

The initiative taken up by the Brazilian government is one of a kind and it has not been reciprocated so far by the developed or developing nations. However, the main aim of the initiative as described by the Brazilian president is to attract the businessmen and tourists of the people belonging to the south Asian belt so as to enrich tourism industry and the retail market along with strengthening strong business ties and trade relations with the various developed and developing nations. Statistics suggest that this initiative will be successful in generating significant profits and revenues for the tourism sector along with improving the GDP of the nation by an impressive 25%. However, the major risk relating to this bold decision taken by the Brazilian president is the fact that these nations haven’t reciprocated the visa exemption for Brazilian citizens in turn.

This decision is a particularly good one for Indians because statistics predict that Brazil houses around 5000 Indians with a strong presence of Indian communities within the nation mainly focused around Sau Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Manaus. By taking this initiative not only does the Brazilian government stand to generate a strong tourism and business sector but it also helps to strengthen the bonds between India and Brazil. The two countries already share a strong multidivisional relationship in forums like BRICS, G-20, IBSA and others. By allowing visa-free access, the Brazilian government aims to strengthen this bond and create stronger ties.

So, if you are an Indian traveller and you want to travel to a beautiful land and explore the majestic culture of brazil then you can now do so for a period of 90-180 days. All you need is an Indian passport and ticket to Brazil! Plan your trip today and pack your bags to fly away to the beautiful tourist destination and beautiful spots in Brazil. Places to Visit in Dharamshala and McLeodGanj

Are you planning for a trip to Dharamshala and Mcleodganj and confused about the places you should visit? If yes, then you should relax because here you will get all the answers about where you should visit in this hill station.

Where is Dharamshala?
Dharamshala is a city situated in Kangra district in Himachal Pradesh. Dharamshala is primarily an abode for Tibetan Buddhists and a place to spend the Summer, Dharamshala currently becomes famous among hikers and hippies.

I didn’t find places to visit in Dharamshala or to explore something in the visitor sense and you will feel the same after spending some time in the city. Most of the people will guide you to upper Dharamshala or McLeodGanj as it is better known.

How to reach Dharamshala?

Via Air: The closest air terminal to Dharamshala is Gaggal air terminal in Kangra, situated around 15 km. There are frequent flights from Delhi everyday.

Via Road: The separation among Delhi and Dharamshala is more than 475 km. There are regular buses from Delhi to Dharamshala, and it takes around 8 to 9 hours. Major cities of Himachal are all around linked with Dharamshala by road with buses.

Via Train: The closest railway station to Dharamshala is Pathankot, which is around 85 km. You can take a taxi or a bus to Dharamshala.

Where is McLeodGanj?
Distance between Dharamshala and McLeodGanj is around 5 km and you can travel from Dharamshala to McLeodGanj in 20 minutes. You can take a shared taxi, jeeps and buses from here which go every 5 minutes and thus driving among Dharamshala and McLeodGanj isn’t just a breeze however very cheap as well.

Places to Visit in Dharamshala and McLeodGanj

1. The Abode of the Dalai Lama

McLeodGanj is known as the little Lhasa of India for its Tibetan people that have been inhabiting for quite a while, headed by the profound master the Dalai Lama. So clearly, visiting the Tsuglagkhang Temple and planning to meet the profound pioneer is high on everybody’s list and is additionally one of the top places to visit in McLeodGanj.

Namgyal Monastery and the Tibetan Museum in the temple complex are different places where you can get a look at Tibetan Buddhism.
There was a traditional ritual on the day I visited, and I saw the monks performing well practised slow step to the tune of the trumpets. The dynamic clothing and the huge masks of the monks looked well to mix with the loud chanting of prayers.

2. Trek to Bhagsu Waterfalls
Bhagsu waterfall is an amazing place where you can enjoy and sit for a while and relax your mind. You can also swim in the cool natural water for more fun. But there is a minus point for Bhagsu Waterfall that this place is very crowded and noisy which is a minus point for this beautiful place. Know more about Ashoka Waterfall in Igatpuri.

3. Dhauladhar Himalayas at Triund
Triund is one of the most well known short treks in the Himalayas, and this snow trek is ideal for beginners to enjoy the amazing view of the Dhauladhar range of the Himalayas, with mountains studded with pine trees and the valley of Kangra that stretches to the most distant skyline.

You can start early and come back on the same day or you do camping at the summit. There are some lodging which you can book from the main market or you can go for camping. I suggest you book in advance for lodging or tent because it’s smarter.

4. Spend Time in the Hippie Village of Dharamkot
If you see McLeodGanj as too crowded and touristy as I did, well, you have a village to getaway. Located about 2.5 km from McLeodGanj, Dharamkot, mostly famous for its hippie culture. But I believe it’s soon going to become mainstream!

5. Take a Walking Tour of Dal Lake
Dal Lake, named after the popular Lake in Srinagar is a decent place to walk and talk. This place become more beautiful because it is surrounded by forest lined with tall trees which makes it look serene.

You can take a taxi if you want to visit for 250 INR (which is costly!). A better way is to take a long walk to the lake and stroll around the lake.

6. Watch the Sunset in Naddi
Naddi is another village in front of Dal Lake and is ideal for a stroll at night for a wonderful sunset. Combine it with a walk to the lake or drive at night to escape from the clamouring McLeodGanj.

7. Discover the Church in the Wilderness
St. John’s Church bears the name as the church in the wild because of its detached area in the midst of the covering of trees from the main town. It’s on the way to Dharamshala and you can either walk or drive.

8. Take a Half-Day Trip to the Highest Cricket Stadium in the World
Among all the things, going to the cricket stadium in Dharamshala was the most energizing part of my trip to McleodGanj. The HPCA arena opened in 2013 is the prettiest cricket stadium in India, encompassed by the snow-capped pinnacles of Dhauladhar mountains which makes it look wonderful.

If you are a fan of cricket then you should definitely visit the highest cricket stadium in India which is located at the height of 1,457 meters above sea level, it is one of the highest sports grounds in the world. With a view comparable to the Adelaide Oval or Newlands, this stadium competes with the best in terms of its magnificence.

The least expensive way to arrive at the stadium is to take public transport from Dharamshala bus stand.

9. Shop, Dine Or Idle Away at the Popular Cafes
There are some great cafes for coffee, books and more in McLeodGanj, which likewise have rooftop opening with the pleasant view of the valleys.

Also, there is a lot to do for the shopaholics as there is no deficiency of sellers and merchants on Mall road in McLeodGanj. This Tibetan colony is home to truly woolen wear, antique Buddhist trinkets and more. So shopping in Dharamshala or McLeodGanj is a good time without a doubt, however, don’t forget to bargain because the shopkeepers owners usually quote very high prices.

10. Explore the Oldest Fort of the Himalayas in Kangra
If you want to see some unique place, I suggest you to visit old Kangra which is full of history and nature. The old town is known for the Kangra Fort, this is the oldest fort in himalayas with a history of thousands of years and the view of the Himalayas from the top is stunning.

Reach Kangra from Dharamshala by bus. From that point, local buses go to the fort at regular intervals. You can also take a taxi or rickshaw if you plan to travel more conveniently.

What is the Best Time to Visit Dharamshala?
The best time to visit McLeodGanj and Dharamshala is after the rainy season, from September until the beginning of monsoon in June. Winter can be cruel yet can be managed, but you should avoid heading in rain. Also, like Dharamshala climate is the best throughout the summer. Anand Mahindra is known for his witty, encouraging, informative and supportive tweets. One such instance has been ruling the internet these days. It is about a man from Mysore (officially Mysuru) who took his mother for a pilgrimage on a scooter which is 19-year old Bajaj Chetak, and was owned by his father. To this, the Chairman of the Mahindra Group, Anand Mahindra has promised to gift the man a brand new Mahindra KUV 100 NXT. He replied to a tweet having the same story and announced the same. Dakshina Murthy Krishna Kumar, a man from Mysore took his mother, 71-year old Choodarathna on a pilgrimage on his Bajaj Cheetak scooter.

We all have been seeing how all our mother’s give up all their time to help us doing everything on time. There are only a few kids who give something in return to their mothers; Krishna Kumar is one of them. The man quit his job and took her mother on a pilgrimage covering a jaw-dropping distance of 48,000 km across Karnataka, Nepal as well as Bhutan. They visited most of the temples coming their way during their journey.

In one of his interviews with a leading newspaper, he said,

“My mother has been stuck in the kitchen for the best part of her life. She has never visited any places outside Mysuru. So, I decided to take her on this pilgrimage.”

The mother-son duo did this trip in January 2018 and said they used to travel in the day and rested in dharamshalas and temples so that besides fuel, there is no major expense incurred. Surprisingly, the scooter did not break down even once during the long journey. Kumar said that he got this idea of taking his mother on a pilgrimage after his father’s death which led to her mother living a lonely life.

Kumar wanted his mother to step out of Mysore and also wished to show her India and hence he did this. Isn’t it heartwarming? It is indeed! Anand Mahindra through his tweet appreciated the beautiful story about the love for a mother and also the love for a country. He also thanked the person who tweeted about this and asked him to connect him to Kumar so that he could gift him a brand new Mahindra SUV so that Kumar can drive his mother in a car on their next journey. That’s really very sweet of him. Well done sir!

The business tycoon is known to be making such sweet gestures quite often. Last year, in February 2018; he gifted a brand new Bolero Maxi Truck Plus to Shilpa, a single mother who had a fast-food joint set up ‘Halli Mane Rotties’ which served north Karnataka dishes in Mangalore (Mangaluru) city in Karnataka.

He also hosts small competitions and gives away model Mahindra cars to the winners. He has been quite active on Twitter and is one of the most followed and loved businessmen on social media.

So, this Mysuru Man is our Traveller of India – from Travellers of India we wish him a good luck & happy Journey for his remaining journery in India.

Touring Royal Rajasthan: 3 Tips Adding to Your Convenience

I’m no expert, but there are a few things that I’ve learned over my course of travelling around the world.

I’ve heard people talk about how they went to a certain destination and boast about their fancy hotels and the expensive food they had. I hardly ever hear them talk about what they saw, the people they met, or the local food they should have eaten.

Must Read: Local Delicacies That You Cannot Miss While Your Stay in Rajasthan

That’s what you want to get out of a trip. Going to an exotic location to enjoy the hotel and not explore its essence is disrespectful in a lot of ways to the culture and its people.

See, I’m the kind of person who carries out an extensive research program before I travel to my desired location for a vacation. (Oh hey, that rhymes!)

Anyway, I recently took a long break from work and went on an exploring spree of Rajasthan, the land of the Royals and the land of colours, and whatnot. There are so many things that I discovered, one of them being the amount of time required to travel between cities and to really admire the architecture of Rajasthan in itself.

Related Article: Beautiful Lakes in Udaipur, Rajasthan

So now, here I am, writing to you a list of tips that I hope you remember when you’re travelling to Rajasthan. When the largest state in India has a bunch of things to offer its people, I think travellers of India should get the best out of it too.

What do you think?

Let’s dive into the actuality of this article!

The Best Time

The travelling season has just begun and shall last until February. Essentially, October is when winter starts to gently set in and cool down the desert that Rajasthan is. It is during this time that the state flaunts its best weather, with temperatures ranging from 120 C to 250 C.

If you’re not a fan of winters or that’s your working season, you could pick the second-best option of travelling during the rains. Monsoons bring life to Rajasthan, the trees and animals rejoice with the small pockets of rain that it receives. If you’re lucky enough, you might get to see some peacocks on your Ranakpur sightseeing trip.

Time Allocations

If you’ve done even the slightest of research, or have been reading this article with the slightest attention, then you’d know that Rajasthan is the largest state in India. Four of its cities are major tourist attractions and there’s a high chance that you run into someone you know from back home.

Anyway, the 4 cities that I mentioned above are:

• Jaipur which is also known as the Pink City
• Jaiselmer awarded the name of Golden City
• Jodhpur or Blue City
• Udaipur termed, not so famously, White City

You want to be spending at least two to three nights in each city if you’re planning to explore it the right way. Spending a ton of money to scan through the attractions in such a beautiful place doesn’t seem worth it.

The road trip kinda people (hi5 to the ones like me!) will need to add in one more day so they can accommodate the time taken to jump between cities by car.

And then! Oh, this is super important! As you travel between these cities, you’ll see that there are various small yet impactful places that you’d want to explore as well. Places like Kumbhalgarh, Nathdwara, Chittorgarh, Ranakpur, Ajmer, Pushkar, Bikaner, etc.

You could plan to stay at some of these places for a day or two as well. I’ve found the entire experience of Ranakpur sightseeing to be wonderful. The place has been etched in my memory.

Travelling Locally

I would want you to take a deep breath before you read forward, because if you’re not used to travelling by any other means except for cars and in luxury, then you could be a tad bit intimidated.

The first and best option is the tuk-tuk. Maybe not the most luxurious, but definitely the most convenient and fun! Tuk-tuks are essentially three-wheeled cycles that area bit slower since they’re peddled and not run as a machine. Only two or three passengers can be accommodated on the seats.

After the tuk-tuk, the next best option is the battery-operated rickshaw or auto-rickshaw. The only difference between the two is that the battery-operated rickshaw is more environment-friendly than your regular auto rickshaw.

In the end, you’re left with local and tourist buses, if you wish to use public transport. Otherwise, you can always book a cab and go around. For any further help, you could check out travel agencies that provide services for the entire trip duration.
